With more than 44,000 miles of rivers streaming either south in the Ohio River or north into Lake Erie, water adventure is a top attraction in Ohio. Forests make up about a quarter of the state, meaning lots of places to see deer, foxes, raccoons, skunks and lots of other critters. The state also boasts a number of trails for hikers, backpackers and horseback riders, including the famed Buckeye Trail.
